Comal Independent School District Kicks Off ATRS Clothing & Shoe Recycling Drive for December

San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) December 05, 2014

This month the Comal Independent School District kicks off a 22 school wide clothing and shoe recycling fundraiser with American Textile Recycling Service (ATRS). Students, teachers, friends and family from each school will bring gently used, outgrown, out of season and unwanted clothes, shoes, toys and household textiles for recycling to benefit charitable programs and services.

Comal ISD and ATRS have partnered to create a strong cross marketing campaign using technology to educate students about the importance of textile recycling. Public Service Announcements are playing on the hallway monitors at each school facility, reminders appear on the schools’ online portals and social media posts highlight the types of items suitable for donation.

The Comal ISD Clothing and Shoe Recycling Drive will mark the largest onsite fundraising commitment to date through the ATRS Cares initiative geared at creating unique, easy and convenient funding opportunities for schools, churches and local groups to support charitable programs through textile recycling. Every pound collected from each of the 22 schools will be weighed and will generate revenue for CISD and local charity Center On Independent Living (COIL). The textiles will be graded and sorted by ATRS and categorized for reuse, redistribution or recycling.

“We’re very proud to expand our community fundraising outreach through partnerships with CISD and other school districts in Central Texas,” says Todd Norris ATRS Market Manager in San Antonio, “We are parents too and believe in educating students and inspiring a whole new generation of environmental advocates to protect our earth in the years to come.”

Community members, neighbors and businesses are invited to support the ATRS Cares Comal ISD fundraising program by cleaning out their closets for the holidays, bagging up unwanted, gently used clothing, shoes and household textiles and dropping them off at these participating campus locations:

Steinger, Iscoe & Greene Fund School Mascot

Palm Beach, FL (PRWEB) September 16, 2014

Students at Carver Middle School are getting a brand new gym floor with their mascot emblazoned on it, thanks to the support of law firm Steinger, Iscoe & Greene and other local businesses.

The turn of events began during an annual fundraiser, according to the Sun-Sentinel (retrieved 09.12.2014). The Wayne “Doozy” Martin Festival & Basketball Tournament, of which Steinger, Iscoe & Greene was the title sponsor, brought $ 1,000 for the school’s activities fund.

During the festival, students spoke to organizers about a longstanding wish: to see their team mascot, the Eagle, emblazoned on the gym floor.

“They had seen mascots on the floors of other schools’ gyms,” said Michael Steinger, co-founder of the firm. “They wanted to show the same level of team spirit, but it wasn’t in the school’s budget.”

Steinger says that was when his firm decided to take action.

“We knew immediately we wanted to donate the cost of adding the mascot,” he said. “But the gym floor was also in terrible shape.”

Those conversations led to another donation: a complete refinishing of the gym floor, gratis, from area business Wood Floor Solutions & Design.

“Together we are completely making over this gym,” Steinger said. “We’re making it an arena worthy of the Carver Eagles.”

The new mascot will be finished this fall. In the meantime, Steinger, Iscoe & Greene have decked the gym with two large Carver Eagles Arena banners.
